The Yamaha Silent Guitar (courtesy of Beggs Music on Hardy Street)

Pierre performs live in Nelson with this amazing guitar. This model is a nylon string one but a steel string model is expected soon. Obviously, it does not produce much acoustic sound as it does not have a body at all. It runs on a battery or external power supply, has a mono line output, a stereo headphone output and an integrated reverb unit. The reverb unit sucks (what do you expect?) but it is great for practising with the headphones and far better than no reverb at all. Live, I recommend using the mono line output and a good separate reverb. Great sound, easy to play and hey .. doesn't it look cool ?

In the car

Many people have said that they had a great experience listening to When the Tide Turns in their car. This is because the music is so varied and so eventful. The tracks are all different. It keeps the mind busy. Also the music is not aggressive or depressing, which kinda fits with the beautiful New Zealand scenery. Our suggestion is: if you enjoy playing music in the car and want to relax and be entertained while on the road, this CD is for you.

Latin Dance

The track "For Elise" (click here for demo) on "nouveau piano - travelling within" has been a great success at Latin dance parties in Wellington. Here is what Roberto Ureta, DJ, Latin dance instructor and performer in Wellington, has to say:

From DJ Tropical!

I DJ at the Salsadrome and Tangobar fortnightly dance party which is held at Wellington Performing Arts Centre (WPAC) around two hundred people attend this party on a regular basis. There are two studios, in studio one there is Salsa music and dancing, In studio two there is Argentine Tango music and dancing. I've experimented in studio two with the song "For Elise" and noticed that people really enjoyed dancing Argentine Tango to this song!!! It's a great song to dance to!!! I was surprised at the number of people that came to talk to me after the song was finished enquiring what the title of the song was and wanting to know where they could purchase a copy! I've subsequently played "For Elise" at the Wellington Argentine Tango Ball and had the same crowd response! I'm convinced that "For Elise" is captivating my audiences and promoting passion within the embrace of a dance!!!
